Machine Insertion & Hand Finishing

As a modern mailing house with sophisticated machinery, we can insert up to 6 items in to either envelopes or wrap them in polythene at speeds of up to 8,000 per hour. Using barcode technology we can insert different items into each envelope in the same run, preventing waste and ensuring that the recipient receives information that is relevant to their needs and capitalising on the maximum postage discount. We can also match letters to response forms using the barcode system.  Whether you have a single letter to send to your customers or would like to send a large number of different items or strange and non-uniform shapes, we can help. We collate using machines or by hand to ensure the mailing is in the correct format to meet your objectives.

Envelope Insertion

Neopost DS1000

We call our DS1000 ‘Max’.  Max is a 6 station intelligent inserter and the sort of machine used by banks and building societies.  It can be used as a standard envelope inserter folding and inserting up to 6 items into a C5 or DL envelope.  With the use of the barcode readers, Max can also be used in the following ways, often giving significant postage discounts by merging jobs together:

Collating multi page documents

By reading a barcode on the front page of a letter it can select the correct number of sheets paper to be collated and inserted into an envelope.  These are laser printed in sequence and in one run.

Matching 2 documents

By reading a barcode on the prime document (the letter which shows through the window) and reading a barcode on a second insert it can used to match a letter printed on letterhead and a response form or sheet of lottery tickets.

Selective insertion

By reading a barcode on the prime document the machine can select which insert should be inserted. It might be that you want to send a mailing to a mix of retailers and wholesalers and the barcode will tell Max which price list to insert. By merging two jobs into one, you will benefit from an increased postal discount.

Phillipsberg Jumbo

Jumbo is a 6 station C4, C5 and DL inserter. It is mainly used for C4 work which, in recent months, is becoming increasingly popular with marketing personnel preferring the A4 format. It works a suction fed basis rather than friction and this gives it the edge when inserting glossy brochures.

Polythene Wrapping

Our Norpak CF 35 polythene wrapper can wrap up to 7 items in clear or printed polythene.  We print an address carrier, usually with a logo, advertising message, strap line and return address and enclose it with a brochure or catalogue with other inserts as required.  Additional inserts should be the same size as the main brochure or smaller and generally flat.  The machine has a built in shuttle feeder for the main brochure/catalogue and two sheet feeders.  Additional items are put on the conveyor by hand.

We supply C4, C5 and 210 x 210mm to cater for the square brochures.  We can also manage other sizes between C4 and just smaller than C5.  We use biodegradable polythene as the norm which is in line with our environmental policy and ISO 14001 accreditation.   Colour polythene is available and enhances the presentation of the pack and is useful for regular magazines.  We will need artwork for the origination and a minimum order of about 50,000 to make it cost effective.

Hand Finishing

A team of hand finishers are used to hand to fill envelopes, nesting of items inside magazines or collation of matched items which cannot go on the machines.  We also do tabbing for sealing a one piece mailer and apply glue dots for affixing cards or CD’s to mailing items.
